Kingdom of heaven.

Yesterday the new movie Kingdom of Heaven came out, the new film of Ridley Scott who scored with films like Thelma & Louise, Blade Runner, Conquest of Paradise, The magnificent movie Gladiator and many more great fameous films.

The story goes on in the middelages during the crusades in the 12th century. Balian is a blacksmidt who mourns his wife and son who past away. On a certain day the baron of Ibelin comes to visit him to tell Balian that he is the baron's extramarital son. He takes Bailian with him on a holy mission to Jeruzalem. There Christens, Jews and Moslims live together in peace, but there are some groups who want to go to war against the other religions.
When his father dies, Balian inherits a piece of land in Jeruzalem and the mission to protect the civilians and controle the peace.. This is not an easy task because of the follow-up of the present king is against the peace and the present king is in a very bad healthy condition.

The films has got many critics from all the different religions. Jews, Moslims and Christens are mad because they feel are negativ portreted in the movie and that many things in the movie are not true. This is in contradiction with historici who believe that the film is a realistic reproduction of what happend during the crusades during the 12th century.

But many religion groups are mad, and there are many fights and descussions going on due to this film. Many filmforums are filled with religion statements in stead of discussing the aspects of the film itself. The film has a great script and is very nice filmed on different locations, so it's a shame that people don't recognise that in stead of arguing over a more than 1000 year old issue.

Kingdom of Heaven is an excellent film and I would recommend everyone to see it.
